Could breathing clear a poison? new device tested for methanol overdose

NCT ID NCT06173817

Summary

This study aimed to test if a special breathing treatment could help remove methanol from the body of poisoned patients, potentially offering an alternative to dialysis. The treatment, called isocapnic hyperventilation, uses a device that lets patients breathe rapidly while keeping their carbon dioxide levels normal. The trial was withdrawn before enrolling any participants, so no results are available.
