Breathing workouts may sharpen focus and lung power in female athletes

NCT ID NCT07553039

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a specific type of breathing training (diaphragm-focused inspiratory muscle training) could improve lung function, heart measures, attention, anxiety, and motivation in healthy female athletes. 28 women aged 18-23 who had been active in sports for at least 5 years took part. Some did the breathing exercises, some did a fake (placebo) version, and others did no training. The results help us understand if this training offers any benefits beyond regular exercise.
