Breathe better, perform better: new study tests diaphragm training in athletes
NCT ID NCT07553039
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether a specific type of breathing exercise (diaphragm-focused inspiratory muscle training) could improve lung function, heart health, attention, and anxiety in healthy female athletes. 28 women who had been active in sports for at least 5 years took part. Some did the breathing exercises, some did a fake version (placebo), and some did nothing. The goal was to see if the training made a real difference in their breathing and mental state.
