Simple breath check aims to get ICU patients off ventilators faster and safer
NCT ID NCT07467265
Summary
This study is testing a simple measurement called the Rapid Shallow Breathing Index to see if it can better predict when a patient in intensive care is ready to have their breathing tube safely removed. Researchers will enroll 70 adult patients who are on ventilators and appear ready to breathe on their own. The goal is to improve the accuracy of this critical decision to help patients avoid complications from being on the ventilator too long or from having the tube removed too soon.
