Scientists test which breathing aid best protects failing lungs

NCT ID NCT07247318

Summary

This study aims to understand how different non-invasive breathing support methods affect the lungs of patients with acute respiratory failure. Researchers will compare three common support types—high-flow oxygen, pressure support ventilation, and constant positive airway pressure—using special imaging to see how air moves inside the lungs. The goal is to learn which method best reduces uneven air distribution, a problem that can further strain damaged lungs.
