New breathing strategy aims to help obese heart patients recover faster

NCT ID NCT07409324

Summary

This study is testing if a special breathing machine setting, called APRV, can help severely obese patients breathe better after heart surgery. Researchers will compare APRV to standard machine settings to see if it improves oxygen levels, reduces lung complications, and helps patients leave the intensive care unit sooner. The goal is to find a better way to support breathing in this high-risk group to prevent serious problems after their operation.
