New muscle scan could help patients breathe on their own sooner
NCT ID NCT07143695
Summary
This study is testing if adding a simple ultrasound scan of a patient's breathing muscles to standard checks helps doctors decide the best time to remove a breathing tube (ventilator). The goal is to reduce the chance a patient needs the breathing tube put back in, which can be risky. Researchers will compare the new approach to standard care in 200 critically ill adults.
