New sensor could help doctors spot when oxygen therapy is failing

NCT ID NCT06675045

Summary

This study aims to understand if monitoring a patient's natural breathing patterns can help doctors decide the best time to move them to a ventilator. Researchers will use a non-invasive sensor to measure breathing in 60 ICU patients with severe breathing difficulties who are receiving high-flow oxygen therapy. The goal is to find an early warning sign that the oxygen therapy is not working, so doctors can provide more effective care sooner.
