New breathing method may help preterm infants avoid complications

NCT ID NCT07307079

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at 100 preterm babies with breathing problems who did not improve with standard treatment. Researchers compared a newer breathing machine (non-invasive high-frequency oscillatory ventilation) to a standard one (conventional mechanical ventilation) to see which improved oxygen levels better and caused fewer complications like lung damage or infections. The goal was to find a safer, more effective way to help these fragile newborns breathe.
