Simple breathing device tested to speed up recovery after major heart surgery
NCT ID NCT05192785
Summary
This study tested whether using a simple breathing exercise device, called an incentive spirometer, helps patients recover better after heart bypass surgery. Researchers compared 58 patients who used the device along with standard breathing exercises to those who only did the standard exercises. They measured oxygen levels, blood gases, and vital signs to see if the extra breathing practice made a difference in the first few days after surgery.
