NCT ID NCT07290231
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding diaphragmatic breathing or Pilates breathing to core strengthening exercises can improve lung function, blood sugar levels, and quality of life in people with type 2 diabetes. Fifty-six adults aged 30 to 55 will be randomly assigned to one of two exercise groups for six weeks. Researchers will measure changes in breathing, walking ability, and blood sugar before and after the program.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
core strengthening exercises combined with either diaphragmatic breathing or Pilates breathing
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that adding specific breathing techniques to core exercises helps improve lung function and blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 56 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The exercises are non-invasive, but benefits may be modest or not last long-term.
