Breast surgery and brain fog: new study seeks answers

NCT ID NCT03774420

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study is looking at why some women experience confusion or memory problems after breast surgery. Researchers will measure how much anesthesia medicine is given during surgery and see if it relates to changes in thinking skills. The goal is to better understand these post-surgery brain changes, not to test a new treatment. About 200 women having breast surgery with a laryngeal mask airway will participate.
