New study aims to cut narcotic use after breast reduction surgery

NCT ID NCT07527039

First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether a numbing injection (pectoral block) given during breast reduction surgery can control pain as well as standard narcotic painkillers, but without the side effects like nausea or addiction risk. About 80 women having breast reduction will be split into two groups: one gets the block plus standard care, the other gets standard care alone. Researchers will track pain levels and how much narcotic medication each group uses for a week after surgery.
