First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested a noninvasive treatment for breast fibroadenomas (noncancerous lumps) using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), which uses sound waves to heat and destroy targeted tissue. 113 women aged 18 and older with at least one fibroadenoma participated. The goal was to see if HIFU could shrink the lump and reduce pain and anxiety without surgery.
