Blood test could personalize breast cancer treatment, spare some from extra drugs

NCT ID NCT07214532

Summary

This study is testing a personalized approach for people with intermediate-risk, hormone-positive breast cancer. It uses a special blood test to check for tiny signs of cancer. If the test is positive, patients add a targeted drug (CDK4/6 inhibitor) to their standard hormone therapy; if negative, they continue with hormone therapy and regular blood test monitoring. The goal is to see if this guided approach is as effective at preventing cancer return as giving the extra drug to everyone, while potentially reducing unnecessary treatment and side effects.
