New pump delivers chemo straight to brain tumors in groundbreaking trial

NCT ID NCT06666712

Summary

This early-stage study is testing the safety of a new delivery method for the chemotherapy drug topotecan in patients with a specific type of recurrent brain tumor. A small pump implanted under the skin delivers the drug directly to the tumor through a thin tube, aiming to bypass the body's natural barriers and control the cancer. The main goal is to see if this prolonged, direct delivery is safe and how well the drug spreads within the tumor.
