Glowing dye tested to help surgeons spot Kids' brain tumors

NCT ID NCT04738162

Summary

This study tested the safety of a special fluorescent dye called 5-ALA in children and teenagers having brain tumor surgery. The dye makes tumor cells glow under a special blue light, helping surgeons see and remove more of the tumor. Researchers also checked how well the glowing areas matched actual tumor tissue and measured how the children's bodies processed the dye.
