Could a 20-Minute brain ZAP boost language in memory loss?
NCT ID NCT07449117
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called temporal interference stimulation (TIS) can temporarily improve language processing in people with mild cognitive impairment due to Parkinson's disease, Lewy body disease, or amnestic MCI. Seventy participants will receive either real or sham stimulation while performing a sentence comprehension task. Researchers will measure changes in brain activity and connectivity using MRI scans immediately after stimulation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Temporal Interference Stimulation (TIS) - a non-invasive brain stimulation device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new way to temporarily boost language and thinking in people with mild cognitive impairment.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small study (70 people) looking only at immediate effects. It may not lead to any lasting benefit or treatment.
