Brain zaps meet gut pills: new combo tackles IBS pain

NCT ID NCT07172139

Not yet recruiting Symptom relief Sponsor: Rui Li Source: ClinicalTrials.gov ↗

Summary

This study is testing whether combining a non-invasive brain stimulation technique with either a gut medication or a probiotic works better to ease symptoms of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) than either treatment alone. 140 adults with IBS-D will be randomly assigned to receive either real or fake brain stimulation along with one of the two gut treatments. The goal is to see if this combined approach can reduce abdominal pain and diarrhea more effectively.
