Brain stimulation shows promise for stuttering in small trial
NCT ID NCT06278233
First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether a mild electrical brain stimulation technique called tDCS, applied for 5 days in a row, could help adults who stutter speak more fluently. 36 adults with developmental stuttering received either real or fake (sham) stimulation while doing speech exercises. The goal was to see if the real stimulation reduced stuttering more than the fake one, both right after treatment and one week later.
