Zap to remember: brain stimulation trial aims to help gulf war vets find their words

NCT ID NCT03542383

Summary

This study tested whether a gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation technique could help Gulf War veterans struggling with word-finding and memory problems. Researchers delivered small electrical currents to a specific brain area in 93 veterans over 10 sessions to see if it improved their ability to recall words during conversations and tests. Half the participants received real stimulation, while the other half received a sham (fake) treatment for comparison, to determine if the approach was truly effective.
