Brain pacemaker trial offers hope for untreatable seizures

NCT ID NCT06436547

Summary

This small pilot study is testing whether electrical stimulation of a specific brain area called the subiculum can help reduce seizure frequency in people with drug-resistant temporal lobe epilepsy. The trial involves 6 participants who have not responded to medications and are not good candidates for traditional brain surgery. Researchers will implant electrodes to deliver continuous stimulation and monitor changes in seizure frequency, quality of life, and safety over time.
