Zapping the brain to steady unsteady hands

NCT ID NCT07250321

Summary

This study tests whether gentle electrical stimulation to the back of the brain (cerebellum) can improve movement and coordination in people with degenerative ataxia, a condition that causes balance and walking problems. Researchers will compare real stimulation to a fake (sham) treatment in 16 participants, using both standard doctor's exams and high-tech motion sensors to measure changes. They will also use brain wave recordings to understand how the stimulation might work.
