Scientists scan brains to predict who will start smoking

NCT ID NCT05447325

Summary

This study aims to understand if brain scans can help predict which young adults who vape might start smoking cigarettes or increase their nicotine use. Researchers will also test if different types of anti-vaping public service announcements (PSAs) affect these behaviors. Over one year, 180 young adult vapers will have a brain scan and then receive weekly messages, with their tobacco use tracked through surveys and lab tests.
