Scientists scan brains to predict who will vape more

NCT ID NCT05829863

Summary

This study aimed to understand why some young African American adults who vape might be at risk of increasing their tobacco use. Researchers used brain scans (fMRI) to look for patterns in how participants' brains reacted to vaping-related images and anti-vaping messages. They then tracked the participants' actual vaping and smoking habits over the next month to see if the brain scans could predict future behavior.
