Brain scan study aims to help doctors tell apart two common small vessel diseases

NCT ID NCT05486897

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at brain scans from 315 people with two different types of small vessel disease: cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) and hypertensive arteriopathy (HA). Researchers measured white matter changes around the brain's ventricles to see if the pattern of these changes could help tell the two diseases apart using standard hospital tools. The goal was to improve diagnosis without needing special equipment or complex analysis.
