Gentle brain scans aim to predict future challenges in babies

NCT ID NCT06940713

Summary

This study is testing a new, gentle type of brain scan called functional ultrasound (fUS) to see if it can help doctors understand early brain development. Researchers will use the scan on 76 newborns, including babies born very early, those with growth problems, and those at risk for conditions like autism. The goal is to see if this safe, bedside scan can find early signs of future developmental challenges before symptoms appear.
