Spinal drain tested to save brains from crushing pressure

NCT ID NCT05889650

Summary

This study is testing the safety of a procedure called external lumbar drainage (ELD) for patients with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). The goal is to see if draining spinal fluid from the lower back is a safe and practical way to quickly lower dangerously high pressure inside the skull, which can cause further brain damage. Researchers will compare outcomes between patients who receive this drain along with standard care and those who receive standard care alone.
