Brain sensor vs. patient chat: which better spots stroke risk during surgery?

NCT ID NCT07485933

Summary

This study compares two methods for checking if a patient's brain is getting enough oxygen during surgery to clear a blocked neck artery. One method uses a sensor on the forehead; the other involves talking to the patient, who is awake but numb. Researchers want to see if the sensor is as good as talking to the patient at spotting problems and guiding the surgeon to use a protective bypass tube.
