Brain scans could alert doctors when patients wake up during surgery

NCT ID NCT07267403

Summary

This study is testing whether a new brain monitoring method can detect if a patient accidentally becomes aware during general anesthesia. Researchers will measure brain activity while gently stimulating a nerve in the wrist, comparing a new computer algorithm to a standard anesthesia monitor. The goal is to gather knowledge that could lead to better tools for preventing the rare but distressing experience of waking up during surgery.
