Scientists scan brains to predict psychosis before it strikes
NCT ID NCT06977308
Summary
This study aims to understand how psychosis develops by looking at brain chemistry in young adults who are at high risk for the condition. Researchers will use special brain scans (PET and MRI) to measure dopamine, a brain chemical linked to psychosis, in 115 participants aged 18-30. Participants will be followed for up to two years to see if changes in their brain scans can predict who develops full psychosis, with the goal of finding better ways to identify and potentially prevent the illness.
