Scientists hunt for brain and gene clues behind crippling voice disorder

NCT ID NCT03042975

Summary

This study aims to understand how genes and brain changes are linked to a voice disorder called laryngeal dystonia (spasmodic dysphonia). Researchers will use brain scans, genetic testing, and voice exams in 410 people with the disorder, related voice conditions, and their unaffected family members. The goal is to find biological markers that could lead to better detection, diagnosis, and risk assessment for this challenging condition.
