Brain scans probe energy puzzle in schizophrenia
NCT ID NCT07309172
Summary
This study aims to understand how the brain uses energy in people experiencing their first episode of schizophrenia. Researchers will use PET brain scans to compare energy metabolism in patients before they start antipsychotic medication and again after 4-8 weeks of treatment, and also compare them to healthy volunteers. The goal is to gather basic knowledge about brain function in schizophrenia, not to test a new treatment.
