Scientists zap nerves to see what happens in the brain

NCT ID NCT05487664

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how mild electrical stimulation of two different nerves in the ear affects brain activity. 96 healthy adults will have their brains scanned with MRI while receiving stimulation to one or both nerves, or a sham (fake) stimulation. The goal is to see if stimulating both nerves together produces a stronger brain response than stimulating just one.
