Double drainage: new hope to prevent permanent brain shunts after bleeding

NCT ID NCT06510842

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a spinal drain to the standard brain drain helps people recover better after a severe brain bleed that fills the brain's fluid spaces. Researchers want to see if this two-drain approach clears blood faster, improves functional outcomes, and reduces the need for a permanent shunt implant. The trial will enroll 354 adults who need emergency brain drainage due to bleeding-induced pressure buildup.
