New mesh device trial aims to seal off dangerous brain bulges

NCT ID NCT07143019

Summary

This study is testing a new mesh tube device called a flow diverter to treat wide-necked brain aneurysms, which are bulges in blood vessels that risk rupturing and causing a stroke. Doctors will implant the device in 214 patients to see if it safely and effectively blocks off the aneurysm over 12 months. The goal is to prevent the aneurysm from growing or bursting without needing major surgery.
