Brain scans reveal why walking gets harder with Age-Related blood vessel disease

NCT ID NCT07372937

First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at how cerebral small vessel disease (SVD) — a common age-related condition that damages tiny blood vessels in the brain — affects walking and balance. Researchers will use brain scans (MRI) and EEG recordings to compare brain activity in people with SVD and healthy adults while they watch walking-related videos. The goal is to understand why walking problems happen, which could lead to better rehabilitation in the future. About 40 adults over age 50 will take part.
