New oxygen test could predict bowel surgery leaks
NCT ID NCT07467980
First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at a new way to check if bowel tissue is healthy enough to heal after surgery. Instead of using a dye that can cause allergies, doctors will measure oxygen levels in the tissue. The goal is to see if low oxygen can predict leaks or narrowing. About 80 adults having colon or rectal surgery will take part.
