Bigger tool, fewer leaks? gastric sleeve study aims to make surgery safer

NCT ID NCT07230769

Summary

This study is testing if using a larger surgical tool (bougie) during gastric sleeve weight-loss surgery leads to fewer stomach leaks after the operation. It will compare a standard smaller tool to a larger one in 100 patients to see if the larger tool is safer without reducing how much weight patients lose. The goal is to find the best tool size to balance safety and effectiveness.
