Summary
This early-phase study tested a combination of high-dose melphalan chemotherapy and escalating doses of total bone marrow irradiation, followed by a stem cell rescue, in 13 patients with multiple myeloma that had returned after first treatment. The goal was to find the safest highest radiation dose. However, the trial was terminated early, so we have limited information on how well it worked or its risks.
