New scan may spot cancer in bones without needle biopsy
NCT ID NCT07248033
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a detailed bone scan (SPECT/CT) can accurately tell the difference between harmless bone changes and cancer that has spread to the bone. Researchers will measure how much tracer the bone spots absorb and compare those numbers to the final diagnosis from biopsy or follow-up. The goal is to find a clear cutoff value that helps doctors decide if a bone lesion is benign or malignant without needing a tissue sample. About 120 people with suspected bone lesions will take part.
