Jawbone repair showdown: which graft technique wins?

NCT ID NCT07394933

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two surgical techniques for rebuilding the jawbone in people with missing back teeth and a narrow ridge. Sixteen adults will receive either a titanium-reinforced membrane or a bone shell graft from their own jaw. The goal is to see which method better restores bone width for future dental implants.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Bone graft (Khoury's bone shell technique or Ti-reinforced PTFE membrane)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could identify a better surgical method for rebuilding jawbone, helping more people get dental implants.

What could go wrong

This is a very small trial (16 people) comparing surgical techniques, not testing a new drug. Results may not apply to everyone, and complications like infection or graft failure are possible.
