New bone paste tested to help kids with cleft palate

NCT ID NCT06621719

Summary

This study tested two different methods for creating a bone graft paste used to repair the jawbone in children with cleft palate. Researchers compared a standard method using a blood-derived gel (L-PRF) against a newer method using an albumin-based gel to see which helps the bone graft integrate better and last longer. The goal was to improve the foundation for tooth growth and facial symmetry in 8-12 year old children undergoing this standard reconstructive surgery.
