Could your own bone marrow help dental implants take hold?
NCT ID NCT07657026
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether applying a concentrated sample of a patient's own bone marrow around zygomatic (cheekbone) dental implants can improve bone density and implant stability. Ten adults with severe upper jawbone loss will receive the treatment, and bone density will be measured with a CT scan before and six months after surgery. The goal is to see if this approach helps the implants integrate more strongly.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
autologous bone marrow aspirate concentrate
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could improve implant stability and bone healing for people with severe jawbone loss, potentially reducing implant failure.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early case series with only 10 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Risks include infection, pain at the bone marrow collection site, and implant failure.
