Blue light may boost brain stimulation for Tough-to-Treat epilepsy

NCT ID NCT06304389

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests whether blue light can improve the effects of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) in people with refractory epilepsy, a type that doesn't respond well to standard treatments. Researchers will measure brain activity and other signals in 34 participants (patients and healthy volunteers) to see if blue light enhances VNS. The goal is to find new ways to make VNS more effective.
