First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study checked if red blood cells collected with a special machine and stored in plastic bags without DEHP (a common chemical) still work well after 42 days in the fridge. 37 healthy adults donated blood, and researchers measured how many red blood cells survived 24 hours after being put back into the body. The goal was to see if the new bags meet FDA safety standards.
