Summary

This study tested whether using a continuous blood pressure monitor on the finger is better than the standard intermittent arm-cuff method at reducing episodes of dangerously low blood pressure during surgery. It involved 930 low-to-moderate risk adults having planned, non-heart surgery under general anesthesia. The goal was to see if more frequent monitoring helps doctors react faster to prevent low blood pressure, which can lead to complications.
