Could a simple drug combo make C-Sections safer?
NCT ID NCT07379710
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding ephedrine to a standard norepinephrine drip can better prevent low blood pressure during C-sections done under spinal anesthesia. 260 women having planned C-sections will be randomly assigned to receive either the combo or norepinephrine alone. The goal is to see if the combo reduces blood pressure drops and keeps heart rate stable.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ephedrine and norepinephrine
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a better way to prevent dangerous drops in blood pressure during C-sections, improving safety for mothers and babies.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial testing a common drug combination. The results may not apply to all patients, and there are risks like high blood pressure or slow heart rate.
