First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looked at 140 critically ill patients to see if the difference between blood sugar and sugar in the fluid around cells (interstitial fluid) can help doctors understand metabolism and predict death risk. The goal was to find a simpler, less invasive way to monitor energy use in very sick patients. The study did not test a treatment, but rather aimed to gather knowledge about a new monitoring method.
