Safer strength training gives elderly women same fitness boost
NCT ID NCT07266961
Summary
This study tested two exercise approaches to improve heart and lung fitness in women over 60. Researchers compared traditional moderate-intensity strength training with a newer method using lighter weights combined with blood flow restriction. Both methods provided similar fitness improvements, but the blood flow restriction approach appeared safer for older adults while delivering comparable benefits.
