Gentle exercise with blood flow cuffs aims to strengthen fragile bones

NCT ID NCT07478224

Summary

This study is testing whether a special type of low-intensity strength training, which uses inflatable cuffs to partially restrict blood flow, can safely improve muscle and bone health in adults with osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease). Forty adults with the mildest form of the condition will be randomly assigned to either do this home-based exercise program for 12 weeks or receive standard care. Researchers will measure changes in muscle mass, bone strength, and quality of life to see if this approach helps people who are often afraid to exercise due to fracture risk.
